Safe Sport MANDATORY In-Person Training Sat 9/6:

Sign ups for food and drinks will open on Monday Sept. 1st at 8 PM

THIS Saturday, Sept. 6 PST will host a mandatory in-person Safe Sport training with Michael Mares, USA Swimming Safe Sport Manager of Education & Resolution, at Ellen Driscoll Auditorium in Piedmont.

This is our second annual in-person training after receiving positive feedback from parents, athletes and coaches last year. This in-person session is a great way to complete your mandatory Safe Sport training. Reminder: all PST families are required to have at least one parent/guardian and all athletes 13 & up complete USA Swimming Safe Sport training every year

9/6 In-person Training Schedule @ Ellen Driscoll Auditorium

  • 9-9:30 am: 12 and under athletes + at least one parent/guardian*
  • 9:45-10:45 am: 13 and over athletes + at least one parent/guardian*

*If a parent/guardian has athletes in both the U12 and 13+ age groups, the parent/guardian is only required to attend one session.

9/6 Parent/Swimmer social @ Havens Elementary School blacktop (through breezeway, behind Ellen Driscoll)

  • 9:30 - 11:30 am: parents and swimmers are encouraged to come for a social with food and drink. New members are especially encouraged to attend to meet other families and have the chance to informally ask questions about practices, participating in meets, volunteering, etc.

Volunteer jobs - a great opportunity to earn service hours - will be posted one week in advance.

Thank you for helping ensure PST stays Safe Sport certified and promotes a healthy environment for all

PST Block Party Meet - September 13, 2025:

We are excited to launch the 2025/2026 season with several Block Party meets!  The upcoming September Block Party meets (9/13 and 9/27-28) will be just for PST swimmers.

Block Party Meets offer a relaxed environment for new swimmers to experience a meet and for returning swimmers to ease back into competition. Parents can use this opportunity to learn about timing and other volunteer roles, explore officiating, and immerse themselves in our team's culture while getting to know other parents.

The Sept 13th Block Party at Mills College will be a fun, short meet, and an especially great opportunity for both swimmers and parents new to competitive swimming to try out a swim meet in a friendly, low-stress environment. The older swimmers will be there to support our younger age groups so that parents are free to learn the volunteer roles.

  • Meet Registration will open on Tuesday 9/2, and will close on Wednesday 9/10. Sign ups will be through FastSwims.  (See swim meet registration guide below.)   All PST Swimmers are highly encouraged to attend this meet!
  • Volunteer job signs-ups will open on Monday 9/8, and close on Wednesday 9/10. (See volunteer sign up guide below.)
  • Competition will be from 10 a.m. until 12 p.m.  Warm ups will begin earlier in the morning, so plan to be there between 8 a.m. and 9 a.m. (Coaches will communicate precise warm-up times).
  • Free pizza buffet lunch for swimmers after competition ends at noon. Sign up to bring sides and help out!

Parents, please remember that signing up for a volunteer shift is an expectation. If your swimmer participates in a meet, you also have a responsibility to help out.

This is a fun and exciting way to launch the season, and we can’t wait to see everyone there!

More details on the 9/27-28 Block Party Meet will be coming soon.

How to sign up for meets and volunteer roles:

There are two separate, but equally important components to participating in swim meets: (1) sign your swimmer up for the meet and (2) sign yourself up for a volunteer shift!  Directions for both are below:

Signing up your swimmer for a meet:

  • Registration for most, if not all of our swim meets is through FastSwims. To register, you must create an account using your swimmer’s USA Swimming number. This number can be found  logging into the website under “My Account.” Once there, click “Members” at the top, then the USA Swimming Icon. Your swimmer's number will be on the right.
  • Once your account is set up, you will see a listing of events by date. When the meet opens (usually a Monday morning about six weeks prior to the event), you can click the arrow on the right, then click enter.
  • Once on the registration page, you will click the boxes on the right for the events your swimmer wants to swim, and will check out.
  • Fun fact: the “meet sheet” is published well in advance of the meet opening. It has a range of details regarding the meet, including location, and more importantly, a listing of events so you can talk to your swimmer about what they want to swim!

Signing up for a volunteer shift:

Sign ups for volunteer shifts typically open on Monday 8PM the week prior to the meet and close late Wednesday evening. You can find sign ups on the website under Events.

Don’t worry if you haven’t done the job before, the other parent volunteers will happily get you up to speed. Descriptions for all the jobs are here.

Pro tip: sign up early to get the job and time slot that works best for you, as unfilled jobs get assigned to families with registered swimmers per our service hour policy.
