This Week's Top Tip: |
Swimming is fun, but training is HARD work. What often keeps our athletes training is the friendships they build on the team. Encourage your swimmer to expand their friendships by talking to teammates before and after practice with whom they don’t normally engage. This both builds stronger group cohesion as well as a broader friendship group so that there is always someone at practice who’s a friend. For younger athletes, when you pick up your swimmer, instead of asking “How was practice today?” try asking “Did you talk to anyone new today at practice?” And, Parents, try the same for yourself at meets. It sure does make spending your weekends at meets more fun when you’re looking forward to seeing your swim-parent friends! |
Next Week: |
Saturday, May 24th: Swimmers who are participating in our Club Championship will have practice. All other practices are cancelled. |

How to help athletes navigate difficult conversations Whether you’re a child or an adult, or a coach or a parent, a teammate or a team leader, difficult conversations are never easy. Having frank discussions that feel confrontational can be intimidating and emotionally taxing at any age, but fortunately there are ways to improve your athlete’s ability to handle difficult conversations with teammates, coaches and parents. And this won’t just improve their ability to communicate with their team now - this is a skill that will help them navigate life. Read the full article here from TrueSport. |

Meet Registration Pro Tip: |
You can opt in to email alerts in your FastSwim account and by doing so, never miss a meet registration again. Simply go to your settings in the top right corner, click “notifications” and click the box for “Pacific Swimming: Zone 2” to get email notifications for all Zone 2 meets. (Note: you will get emails for all meets in the Zone regardless of if PST is attending.) FastSwims does not send ancillary emails so the only messages you will get are those for meet registration opening. Additionally, you can plan your registration in advance by clicking on the “meet sheet” next to the “online entries” link on the PacSwim site in advance of registration opening to talk to your swimmer about the events they will be swimming. |

Important - Parking Reminders at PST Facilities: |
Dear PST Families, It goes without saying that we rely on positive relationships with the different communities whose pools we use for practices. It is a shared responsibility to maintain these relationships, and we need parents to follow the parking requirements for each facility. Please refer to specific instructions for each pool location in this document, along with screenshots indicating unavailable parking/access in red, and available parking in green. Thank you for adhering to these requirements |
